Camp Norge Needs Your Help to Build the “Hygge Hus”!

The Recreation Center Board is excited to announce the launch of our 2024 fundraising campaign to build the “Hygge Hus” (Cozy House) at Camp Norge.

Why?

For decades, we’ve shared the heartache of our aging and disabled members and guests who, due to terrain and room limitations, are unable to join us at Camp. We want to turn that around.

What is it?

This duplex unit will consist of two apartments, each featuring a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, and maybe even a small front room. Importantly, these fully accessible units will ensure inclusivity for individuals using wheelchairs and walkers.

We Need You!

Our vision includes constructing the Hygge Hus in the parking area behind Heritage Hall, connected by a level, paved walkway, so our older or disabled guests can join the fun.

Here’s where you come in!

We’re seeking your generous support to make our effort a success. Phase One of the project requires $50,000 to get all the preliminary work done including design, permitting and site preparations.

The fundraising campaign will run throughout the year, culminating at the District Six Convention in Las Vegas this Summer.

How Can You Help?

• Donate to this campaign. Think about your friends and family who want to come to Camp Norge and donate to this campaign today.

• Talk to your Sons of Norway Lodge leaders and be ready to donate at Convention in June.

• Forward this message to your friends and family.

• Post this message on your Facebook page.

If you have questions, please contact Fred Hymans or any member of the Sons of Norway, District 6, Recreation Center Board for details.

Let’s come together to build the Hygge Hus and make Camp Norge a haven for all, regardless of age or ability.

Updates!

March 23rd, 2024 by Camp Norge, Organizer

We so appreciate every one of our donors, whether you are contributing $10 or $10,000! We need every penny to help build the Hygge Hus project and make it so that our members and guests, who previously couldn’t come to Camp Norge, can.

Camp Norge is a campground built on hills and sometimes uneven ground. And some of our friends haven’t been able to join the fun events and family gatherings here because of mobility issues. Or how about folks who frankly, need to use the restroom in the middle of the night and don’t want to get dressed to go use the facilities?

Until the Hygge Hus project is a reality, these folks have to book motel rooms 15 to 30 minutes away. But not everyone is able to afford a hotel/motel room, or aren’t comfortable driving at night after their favorite events at Camp have concluded. This are common concerns that we want to solve.

Our dream is to provide a few comfortable rooms that anyone can use regardless of their abilities. Mobility should not be a reason to not come join your family and friends at Camp Norge. And this with this project we hope to make this dream come true.

Your support and generous donations can make our dream a reality!
